Apple’s online store has gone offline and many have been wondering if it’s because of the release of the Retina iPad mini, which was rumored to be released on November 12th. However, it’s not certain that the new retina mini will make it’s debut today and it’s possible that the store could be down for other reasons. The retina iPad mini will start at $399 and feature 16GB of storage.

How To: Fix iPhone Autocorrect Without Turning It Off
If you text on your iPhone, and start typing but the phone doesn’t recognize the word you’re trying to type, it will autocorrect it to what it thinks you meant to say, and it’s often way off. If you’re like me, quickly typing through a text, the autocorrect is otherwise very useful as it does a pretty good job most of the time.
I like to have autocorrect turned on for the words it does get right and so just turning it off doesn’t work for me. For the those words that just don’t seem to ever autocorrect to what you want, you can use the “shortcut” feature in iOS to correct this issue.
Here’s how it’s done:
- Go into Settings > General > Keyboard.
- Select “Add New Shortcut” at the bottom of the list.
- In the section that says “Phrase” type the word you want the phone to learn.
The “Shortcut” option is optional, and is for shortening your phrase, for example: Phrase- “On my way”. Shortcut- “omw”. If it’s just one word you do not need to add the shortcut.
There you have it, so easy. Add more words as you wish and the autocorrect will bother you no more! Yay!
Apple to Bring Jobs to Arizona
In an official statement from the Arizona government, Governor Jan Brewer welcomes Apple to Arizona as he mentions that Apple will creating a new manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona that will bring with it at least 700 new jobs in the first year along with approximately 1,300 construction related jobs.
This is not only a big plus for Arizona but also for U.S jobs in general as many companies, including Apple, have relied on factories overseas to build their best products. The statement does not mention which products will be produced here, but it’s likely that it may have something to do with the upcoming Mac Pro line which will be made right here in the US.
Apple is indisputably one of the world’s most innovative companies and I’m thrilled to welcome them to Arizona,” said Governor Brewer. “Apple will have an incredibly positive economic impact for Arizona and its decision to locate here speaks volumes about the friendly, pro-business climate we have been creating these past four years. Their investment in renewable energy will also be greening our power grid, and creating significant new solar and geothermal power sources for the state. As Governor, I’ve worked hard to demonstrate that Arizona is open for business. Today’s news is proof that’s paying off.”
Facebook App: Bitstrips
If you’ve been on Facebook lately you’ve probably noticed comic strips like the one above taking over your news feed. They are from a Facebook app called Bitstrips. You create your avatar by choosing from a variety of different looks such as face, hair, clothes, and even make-up. Once your avatar is complete you can start making your comics, using them as status updates and greeting cards. You can also add your friend’s avatars that they have made and make silly comics. There are many other features in the app, like changing wording, positions, create thought bubbles and many more.
It may seem like a new thing, but Bitstrips was actually created in 2012, and the reason for it’s recent popularity is because they updated it to be an iPhone app as well.
I think the avatars have a great deal of detail and look just like the people who create them. It’s a fun way to update your status and talk to your friends on Facebook, so check it out if you haven’t already right here at Bitstrips.
